Starting out

Hi guys (& gals)..

I really interested in starting to learn paragliding (been something that i've wanted to do since i was 16).. now i finally have the cash to get started.

..only problem is: whats the best way to start? - I have checked out sunsoar and they have courses but not starting until at least may (possibly june).
They do have an oversees course in morroco, but only CPC which i will miss because i dont have EPC (starting may/june)..

I'm happy to wait, but i'm so exited at prospect of starting that i'd prefer to start asap..lol

In terms of flying time, is this part of the year simply not suitable to learn? - I understand and appreciate that the brittish weather can be fickle and that weather plays a massive role in this sport.

I've been checking out these forums and you guys seem really helpful and accomidating, I'd like to join once i'm qualified (like the thought of making some new friends with same interests

any ideas?

no it is a good time to start now as the conditions can be smoother and less thermal around to get you started. i have just completed hg training in the last week so it is no bother this time of year. ron freem based at newbiggin can train hg and pg so you could start there he is down as northumbrian hg and pg. i am also a pg pilot to , but as for the question starting now is a good time as with a bit of look you should be ready for the summer and get out flying properly.

The link above has all the numbers you will need. Ron Freeman the local school proprietor is there too. He did have a business link on the front page of our club forum to attract people such as yourself but I don't know where it's gone. Why don't you spend a day out on the hill with us and see what it's all about. There's plenty of people fly from your area including the famous Mad Dog!!!

I'll give Ron a ring and take it from there (im so glad i posted here - there's only so much time you can spend reading about the sport before you want to get stuck in!)..

I'd love to come along to the hill some time and find out a little more, or perhaps meet you in the corner house at next meeting (if thats ok).

Hopefully, with some luck i'll join you in the air this summer

Actually Gordie I have a glossy A4 of your school hanging in the garage and "often" point people in your direction. In this case he got pointed more local. A bit of give and take me thinks?

You now can get a top notch PC with a 17" flat panel Screen from Dell delivered for around £250.00

You cound also get a second hand PC for under £50 that might be better than the Sinclar ZX80 your using Bill. Its a little like trying to use a Fiat 500 as a 6 seater taxi.

spmetimes the left button sticks and you have to hit it really hard a few times to make it work I think this is why it might ne putting the posts in twice when I tre to double click

also some the letters have worn of the keyboard but my spelling,s still better than gary,s o
