One of our main aims in the NHPC is to promote safety
and support our members in the development of their skills
post school. To achieve this the club would like to introduce
you to our BHPA qualified Club Coaches. The coaches are
available to offer advice on which sites will be best for
the day, an introduction to site rules, layout and features
and to give a little moral support on take off. We are
by no means instructors and will not tell you how to fly,
you can do that already, but help and advice is always
given freely.
During the flying season Coaches will post their predictions
and intentions for the coming weekend flying on the members
forum. Any members wanting guidance are encouraged to contact
the coaches directly and arrange to meet up on the hill.
We hope to speak to you soon and see you in the air over
our hills!

I’ve been flying regularly
since 1999; both hang gliders and paragliders,
almost exclusively paragliding these days but
I might be tempted to get the hangie out again
some time. I live in Morpeth so the Cheviots are
close for me but I like to fly any site that works
well and so will travel to the Lakes or Dales
if it looks good. My favorite pastime is combining
flying and holidays; we’ve had some excellent
trips to Lanzarote (HG), St Hilare and Algodonales
amongst others.

Hello, My
name is John Miller, AKA Mad-dog, I have been
flying hang-gliders since three weeks before
time began on this planet, and paragliders since
around 1990, although its seems like much longer,
I would love to be of help to you and you only
have to ask, providing the bung is big enough,
then we could be in business.
I tend to fly every weekend, and in the summer,
try to take one day off every week, (Usually
Fridays)
Safe flying then, which ever coach you choose!

Hi my name is John Wallis AKA the
Bandit. I started flying Hang Gliders in June
1979 when I used to roam the Cheviots looking
for good hills to fly off. I came across the Windlord
Hang Gliding School at Titlington Pike run by
Clive Brewitt and a starving student called Ian
Currer and the rest as they say is history.
Been in involved with Microlights and G.A.
flying over the years.
Just qualified as a paraglider pilot last August
and at this point Feb24th 2007 have amassed
a grand total of 6 hours! So school is still
fresh in my mind and the learning has started
all over again.
Please feel free to ring, email, or P.M me
if I can help I will if I can't I know a man
who can.
Cheers

Hi there, Alastair
Wolf here. I fly paragliders, and have been doing
so since August 2003, so the worries and concerns
you have as a newly qualified pilot are not such
a dim and distant memory as for other club members!
I am generally out most weekends, and occasionally
during the week. Feel free to give me a ring if
you are thinking of going out. |

Welcome to the NHPC and the exciting
sport of freeflight.
Bob Sutherland is my name and hang gliding is
my main weekend "thing" although i'm
now dabbling with Paragliding.
I am still new to the sport having trained on
the winch and in the Cheviots 6 years ago, so
all the uncertainties and nervousness you might
have are the same ones i had (and remember well)
when i was looking for my first flights without
the confines of an instructor.
You have taken the first step in looking for a
coach, maybe just to show you the sites or help
you get back into the sport you gave up when the
kids were born or maybe to help you in the decisions
you will have to make as you begin the learning
process for the first time.
It is now time to take the next step so, don't
be shy, and don't try it alone.
I'm out most weekends and i look forward to your
company. |

Aloha! My name
is Brian Day; I’ve been flying paragliders
since September 2003. I’m very lucky in
that I managed to retire last year at the ripe
old age of 50, however, having no one to play
with during the week on a regular basis drove
me back to the world of work, well I think that’s
what they call it! I do have a Thursday off, so
am often to be found wandering the hills on a
Thursday as well as the weekends. Due to my ‘job’
I tend to have a few holidays, so basically if
the kids are at home annoying you, then I’m
about as well.
I do have a passion for a few other outside
activities such as surfing, windsurfing skiing,
snowboarding, power kiting, cycling and have
done a bit of canoeing, so if these pastimes
take your fancy, then I’m always there
to help you along with these as well.
I do try to get out most weekends when I’m
at work, wherever there is a forecast and am
always willing to help anyone and pass on my
very limited knowledge. Give me a call or PM
on the board; I will endeavour to get back to
you as soon as possible.

Congratulations for getting involved
in the best sport in the world and probably the
best club.
I'm pretty enthusiastic about paragliding, which
I've now been doing for about 3 years.
I used to do a lot of skydiving before discovering
this sport so whenever the weather is good do
this instead, I've also got a passion for other
adventure sports - climbing, caving and fell running
but only when its not flyable!
I live in Whitley Bay and fly week days or evenings
in Northumberland or the coast and mainly in the
Lakes at weekends, based at our caravan at Bassenthwaite.
I'm out flying whenever the weather is good and
I can escape from work.
I'm always keen to help new members and advise
on sites and basic flying skills.
Give me a call or e-mail and I'll do what I can
to help out

Hi, I’m
Jan Little long suffering partner of Chris……………I’ve
also been paragliding for 3 years and take part
in the same activities (except the nonsense of
fell running)
I also give priority to this sport over any others.
I’m really getting into XC flying, and manage
to get the summer holidays off from work and fly
whenever the weather allows. I’d be pleased
to help any new club pilots especially any girls
who have just joined.
Give me a call or e-mail
