Anyone recognise him?
Well good old British gas have decided to put some more insulation in my roof for free, unfortunately that means I've had to take all of the old insulation out,,,,,it consisted mainly of old photos, canoeing equipment, ice hockey gear, rip stop nylon and skis.
If anyone would like anything brought to the auction let me know, I've got far to much to bring it all.
But lurking amoung the old photos I found this one. Would you recognise him, or can you work out who it might be? No, not me.

Yes John and Gary, it is Peter Rutherford.
I'm guessing around 1981 and looking at the river, probably Pipe Bridge slalom near Durham where Peter would have been competing in the judges competition. Possibly his last year canoeing, he was in the Premier Division that year and competing in the best class in the world, Richard Fox won the World Champs later that year at Bala North Wales. I was White Water Racing with Dave TAylor and Team Silverscreen from Gateshead, Dave had won the pre-worlds but came a disappointing 6th in the real thing. I didn't gain the dizzy heights of Premier until the end of the 82 season.
The leotard AKA the BIG BOY, fro reasons which became obvious when you got out of the canoe was banned shortly after the worlds because they said you could get trapped in the boat.
Sorry Bill, boats had to go back to sponsors, Pyranha for WWR and Nomad for Slalom, paddles back to Foxy and Prijon all I was left with was bouyancy aid, cags and helmet which were covered in blood sweat and tears and not much use to anyone, I've got a few international ones which were swapped at events, but they are very light weight and not waterproof.
Suprised a few more old timeres didn't get it, he hasn't changed a bit!
