Declaration of interest

Post by brian day »

I have been reading the debate about the winter XC League with interest.
As I read the situation, unless there is some good flying today, which is possible, if we stick to the club decision and use OLC then Neil is the winner of the paragliding comp.
If we change to Open Distance as has been suggested, then I am the winner.

All the pilots at the top of the paragliding comp knew the rules from the beginning and have been flying to them.

I will say publicly now, that if the rules change I will not accept that I have won and ask for a vote of no confidence in the club competition.
Neil has worked hard and flown well for his position and beaten us all fair and square, I am not going to win by default.
The contents of this post may, after todays flights are recorded, be irrelevant, but the feelings will remain the same. The reason for the use of OLC and Open were put forward and agreed and for what it's worth seem to me to make perfect sense. It's about time more positive attitudes and common sense were used to promote flying in the club.
(The thoughts and rants of a newby, who just happens to be in a winning situation!)
See you out there!!!!!

Surf crazed and dazed

Winter league

Post by ron freeman »

Brian, our 'Winter XC league' started on November 1st 07...and all the rules were in place and excepted by the club !

At the January 08 club meeting John Wallis proposed a change to the Winter XC league & the Summer XC league... the club voted and the changes were made all in 5-10minutes !

At the time I did not give a jot wether we use OLC or Open Distance but we should not be using both !

Iv'e now had time to check the scoring system out and feel it would be better to stick with OLC for everything.
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding :)
