Firewalk......if ya hard enough?

Post by Sad Northerner »

Hi All

I’m organising a sponsored firewalk in order to raise some cash for Dilston College (a FE College for people with learning disabilities) and thought I’d throw the event open to clubs, pubs and the general public. The event will be taking part on the evening of Fri 8th Feb 2008 by the castle at Dilston. There will be music, beer and a little grub; spectators are welcome.
The night will start with a lecture on the psychology of fear and how to deal with it, this, I think, will be of benefit to some of us? There will then be some training on how to firewalk followed by the challenge itself.

Each individual taking part is expected to raise £60 in sponsorship and I’m trying to organise it so that any money raised above this can go back into another club or charity of the individual’s choice. This will hopefully not only make the event a good opportunity for the NHPC to represent itself in a charitable context and have a good laugh but also a way for it to make a little money for the coffers.

Please, please show some support, a good turn out from the club would be really great.

For any further information and sponsor forms please contact me on 07859935159 or Alistair.guthrie@gmail.com

Cheers

Ali

PS.Would the following NHPC members who have already signed up please drop me an email so that I can send out some info.

I've tried a search on the tinternet and didn't come up with much encouragement, I've got very tender tootsies and a distinct lack of bottle! (cache)
I need more than a lecture on the psychology of ignoring pain,,,,and the smell of burning flesh, and I can't run very fast!
So what's the word out there as to the mechanics of this madness?
See you out there!!!!!

Surf crazed and dazed
