Out numbered, but not out flown!

Post by brian day »

Arrived at Moneylaws to notice the pterodactyls were out numbering the jelly fish :o
And then to be greeted by the smirking Wallace,,,,,ha, definitely top end for you boys!
(finger) But I had a warm feeling inside,,, it was only 20 minutes to the coast and I'd got the surfing kit with me. (mooning)
Just a mo, that wind feels OK to me, so decision time, surf or fly? Haven't flown for 3 weeks, surfed on Friday, hmmmm, flying it is then!
Well the hangies were off and all playing at submarines, going down, going down
So the jellies took to the air and did what jellies do best, floated about gloating at the stick insects (bug) scrambling around on the ground. (rofl)
Gradually it dawned on some of the poor little stick insects that the only thing to do was,,,,go home,,,or turn to the superior jellytastic sport of floating around the sky.
So, why can't they fly? I've been to Moneylaws in strong winds and,,,,not so strong winds, and they can't fly! They will say it's because they don't want to,,,,,,but I don't believe them! 8)
See you out there!!!!!

Surf crazed and dazed

it won't be long untill i am unleashed on the open road and then i will be interested to see if i can stay up easier and higher than my paraglider. although i did manage to get mine out over the dinner break and show you how it was done. i think the combination of the 2 diciplines is going to work well. the flying of the hanglider if definately a flying mchine that needs flying. yet another great day out and on the way to being a hanglider pilot?

Brian the HGs had some reasonable flying on what is a small hill with light winds and no thermal. The wind dropped pretty quickly and it's not easy to stay up in light conditions on a small ridge relying purely on ridge lift. I know you must be ready for a new challenge because lets face it pulling bits of string either side of your harness is no real challenge, even I managed to do it and get a couple of XCs in 8)

Come over to the skilled side I have a harness that will fit you at a fair price

Plus watching Steve and Gary learning to HG today is a bit special. Just remember lads some days you come away feeling on top of the world other days you feel like shit. It's all part of the learning process. And joking apart learning to hang glide will only make you better pilots of what ever aircraft you fly in the future.

As Gary said all the best paraglider pilots are ex hang glider pilots  I guess that's only because they were there first.

I really enjoyed yesterdays flying..... It was one of those unexpected days, which according to the forecast the night before was not going to be on, but you turn up and hey, conditions were perfect!

OK, it is the end of November, you are not going to get any mega XC, or even any thermals, but it brought me back to the reason I took up the sport and became instantly hooked....... that ability to run down a hill and step into the air like a bird.

Brilliant!

Until my hands froze.....

Forecast for next weekend is a lot warmer..... :D :D :D :D :D
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........
