Firstly the guy takes off with a knot in his left brake lines even though he should of spotted it whilst revers launching. Secondly he is flying a Firebird G Sport from 1994 so is already ten years old when this clip is filmed. They were very good wings in there time if not a bit revolutionary, very stable with a great sin rate but not the fastest!
I would argue that this is not wind shear but just a windy gusty day with and increasing wind. So to choose to fly a site with no 'blow back' option in conditions like this is suicide if not for you then atleast for your glider.
Seems a bit cruel though as he gets blown into the trees all his mates start shouting 'wanker' at him, does this mean 'hands up' in Bulgarian?
