BCC Final!

Post by AlastairW »

Top of the BCC league.... but ultimatley that counts for nowt when it comes to the final.

It is to be held in Llandinam in Wales. It would mean travelling down on the Friday night, competing Saturday and Sunday, and then walking away with the trophy on Sunday evening....!

Proposed team:

Ron Don
CHris Foster
Neil Smith
Gary Stenhouse
Brian Day
Alastair Wolf

Could possible team members let me know that they WILL be able to attend.....

I asumed that was the "B" team Kay being all blokes! Im waiting for the "A" team to be anounced where I would expect you to be included.
Good luck everyone and be carefull don't let the competition "haze" cloud your judgements!!

Only people who have actually competed in at least one of the rounds can compete.... so unfortunatley Jan can not compete, as she didnt manage to fly in any of the rounds.

Similarily we are denied the talents of Ali Guthrie, Ian Miskin etc.....

Kay..... if you really want to compete I am happy to stand down, and be a non flying captain!

Thanks for your offer Brian of sharing the week-end but
1. Its a long way to travel just to fly one day...for both of us
2. I don't think it would be allowed anyway by the organisers

Thanks Alistair for offering to be a non flying Captain..Puts me in a very awkward situation I think !

I can only say that I will elect not to push people out of a place in what has been a really fun event.

However I am very disappointed that my name was not even mentioned, or was I asked if I would or would not like to fly as I think I have shown a comitment to the competition and have also shown results.....Maybe I'm in the wrong Gang !

I think with some many keen and able pilots wanting to fly for our club names out of a hat may have been fairer.

(anyone got Ed Cleasby's number...maybe they'd have a women on their team ?)

I could have altered the original post........

But instead I will grovel!

Kay is absolutley right to be annoyed with me.... she has shown commitment to the comp throughout the year, driving all the way down to the Peak district, volunteering for the dales and Cumbria rounds that were cancelled, and putting in a stirling performance in the round held on Jenkin, where in fact she posted the highest score for the team, after handicapping was taken into account.

She deserves a place on merit, and so with the loneliness of command hanging heavy on my shoulders, and bearing in mind the commitment shown by Kay, she is elevated up the ranks to full team member!

Here are the members of the team, with some reasoning as to inclusion.....

Ron Don - I dont need any reasons for including him! Star pilot.....

Neil - shown up for every round, willing to drive halway across the country to find the meeting places, and the one who won us the Model round.

Kay - Reasons set out above.....

Gary - Absolute commitment as ever, even if due to Injury he only flew one round. He was however second to Kay in the Jenkin round...... AND he was available to drive retrieve at both Model and Cross Fell!

Brian - committed, turns up when asked, and never moans about my difficult job of team selection, even if it has caused him problems.....

Me.... my only justification is I am captain..... and second on Model day two....

If anyone is unhappy with that choice, please let me know!

Not to forget your many hours on the phone and PC organising the rounds that people don't see Alastair. Without your drive there wouldn't even be an NHPC team entered.

I reckon that could be a winning team if foot and mouth don't spoil it all.

Rutherford and I are coming down for the weekend as team support in the bar. If any of you pilots haven't been down to Mid Wales it really really is the dog's bollocks. They talk a bit funny and think all Geordies are Scots

C'Mon the Lads and Lasses

P.S. Why wasn't I asked I got the same distance as you on the Cross Fell round (chuckle) (inlove)
