Hope you had a good day in the Cheviots.
We ended up at the Ochils. Really nasty long steep walk up Alva Glen in the sun! We decided to take the tandem up - my first flight with Ian. It was excellent - launched straight into a thermal - up to cloudbase and over the back........no messing. That would never happen when I'm on my own (mainly because I don;t have the skill.....!) - it would've been straight to the bottom for me....
My learning curve with paragliding is so slow its nice to experience what other people are talking about!
Great day - Steve & Dee also went xc on tandem and a few other guys on solos.
Gary - I saw from the xc league that you flew - hope you enjoyed your first flights back

she couldn't say no as he had quick outs on her harnness ha ha
first days flying became the most terifying experience as the wind picked up to 30 on the top and left me shiting myself trying to get down. first time for me.
to top it off ended up having my first flash back as i nodded off to sleep last night and woke up with a shout the same feelling as impact if i remember. yhe only problem was it was not me falling out the sky it was brian ,but it was me who hit the ground, strange but true
appart from that i was like a novice doing top to bottoms, but at least went home smiling and safe.
the new glider felt very fast at trim and on bar it was noticeably fast.

Looks like another great flight by Miskin - only I didn't realise it was Miskins
I comfort myself by thinking that the lower wing loading is the reason but I know it's not true. Anyway - must have been a great flight after an arduous walk up.
Echo what Gary's said about Hownam - wind doing all sorts of funny things - and I also had that "Oh shit better go for a bottom landing" moment after a dose of big ears, full speed bar etc etc.
Great day out though, plenty of laughs all round and great to get the feet off the ground in nice punchy air.
Hey Steve - surprised she cold hear with all that wind noise

you've got to say a bit worrying, the last time i dreamt about flying was over 12 weeks ago, and that time i kept falling out my glider. i sure am glad my new harness has extra buckles and side impact protection and airbags.
on a more serious note i now know how important it is to be current and i would not like to be a pilot who only flies occasionaly. it was like starting from the begining all over exept this time i was more scared. i was was starting to tune into it after a while but it felt strange on the new glider as the lines are so short and the glider felt like it was next to me. after my last few flights i was surprised how good my hip etc was and even this morning i was feeling tip top. the next time i am hoping to get up properly and start learning the new wing as this is what i need to get my confidence back.
it was strange to finish my flights at the bottom of the hill but i am sure this was just a blip in my career. i mean having mad dog above you all the time does not do much for you, so whach out john i might get out my secret weapon ( the edel sabre)

All joking aside it doesn't sound like the kind of weather for a first flight back after a very serious accident to me!!!!gary stenhouse wrote:
