God ?
Here we go again with the sky god crap ! John Pendry was not a natural pilot when he first started in the National League he just survived the cut in his first year ! then his father who owned 'Planters Pea Nuts' decided to give him thirty grand a year to become one of the lucky few back then to go 'professional' which made a hell of a difference in 1983 there were only a handfull of professionals in the world who could practise all the time picking the best conditions to fly in. Pendry was a good pilot but his best strengh was...he was an excellent competitior at top level.
The clip was the 1985 kosson World hg championships on the 14th day of competing, the task was a 60mile FAI triangle ! and pendry won the day with Steve Moyes second and only 1minute behind...

?
Like I said, there is a world of difference when you are a fulltime professional...take nothing away from the lad (not sky god) its all down to very hard work, commitment, & extreme determination. Even you could do it John
if you had the time and money.

With respect Ron that is not true - there is something special about winners on the big stage, something that I could never hope to achieve.
If Sky Gods do exist then they are the likes of Pendry, Whittal, Sushnek, Rumour, Goldsmith - not Wallis, Miskin or Freeman!
The real question is - could he do it in the Cheviots?

Top level
Hello Ian, I did say 'an excellent competitior at top level' don't knock yourself Ian, you can thermal as well as anybody.
Its the consistancy & decision making which will get you there and if you are a full time pilot your 90% there.
Look at the results on the comp scene they are all full time and they all get there turn if they stick at it... plus a little bit of luck helps.
When Pendry flew in the Cheviots 1983 National league he didn't do much Micheal Carnet flew brilliantly and won well ahead of the field.
