In Memory

Post by brian day »

Ali Westle is organising a fly in for Saturday in memory of Mark Paterson.
The post is on his FB page, for those not on FB or not friends with Ali, I've pasted it below for those interested in paying their respects.
Not sure I could cope, but will give it some thought.
Ok, so, I've just had one of the most difficult conversations of my life. I've been speaking with Keith Paterson for the first time since the weekend. He and the family are together and being very positive about things (as much as possible that is).
I asked how they would feel if we had a 'Fly off Farewell' for Patty and he said that that is something that Patty would like.
It's a difficult subject; people are unsure about flying and are trying to sort things out in their own mind.
I suggest that we get as many pilots from all over the country that either knew Patty or not, to meet in Keswick Filling Station Cafe at 10am this Saturday. We can have a bacon butty, a coffee and a chat before walking up Jenkin Hill for whatever type of flight you'd like. I fancy a simple flydown personally, but each to their own. The important thing is the gathering of like minded people to celebrate Patty's life.
If you're in, you can reply here or just turn up at the cafe. The more the merrier.
Please share this post and see if we can get at least 50 of us here.
If it's just me on the hill, I'm ok with that too - we can all say goodbye in our own way.
I look forward to seeing you.
See you out there!!!!!

Really good turn out up Jenkins Hill today - about 50 pilots all took their turn to fly down in tribute. Ali G, Brian R, Mehdi, Gordon and me for NHPC. Ron Don turned up at The Pheasant after the best flight of day at St Bees (aka Blease) :D

I didn't know the lad who died but it was great to see such a well organised tribute event - they raised over £400 too.

Dave Ashcroft took some cracking photos.
