New starter.

Post by MarkKing »

Hey everyone;

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place I here or if I'm welcome, since I'm not a pilot or anything yet.
I'm wanting to get into paragliding, after spending a long time debating wether I could financially splash out a lot of money straight off, I just thoughT, you only live once!

I'm just looking for some advice on where in the area (North East), and who from? I've seen Northumbria Airsports mentioned online in a couple of places, and wondering if people have learnt or the owner himself is on here?
Is there any other 'beginner' schools about?

Also, what's a reasonable price on buying your gear? Foil, harness, reserve, ect.? Either new or second hand, as I'm not fussy, as long as it works, is serviced and looked after, it does the job right.

Thanks!

Mark.

Hi Mark

Just about every link you will need

http://www.bhpa.co.uk/sport/bhpa/learn_to_fly/

Ron Freeman in the Cheviots
Gordie Oliver in the Lakes
Dean Crosby in the Dales
Also Ian Currer in the Dales

All good schools all good blokes

They all sell second hand gear as does http://www.sickandwrong.co.uk/

You will need a glider to suit your weight and novice ability don't be sold anything that's above what you can handle at this stage.

I see you live in Washington which is where our Chairman Bill Scott lives. Bills a good lad and will help you out too as will everyone else in the club you only have to ask.

Thanks for the replies;

Ron Freeman is the guy running Northumbria Airsports from what I see, which is probably the easiest for me to get to.

I'll give him a ring when I get a bit time off work.

Thanks again.
