NHPC Spot page

Post by chrisfozz »

www.xcmap.net currently shows the NHPC Spot page. It could be useful if need to find someone.
When the map loads click on the animation to get more info and directions to the pilots location.

At present, I’m only aware of Brian Day, Gary and myself from NHPC using these devices; if anyone else has one please let me know.
If you would like more info on what they are and how they work try here - SPOT

My system will probably still have some bugs, if you find something I’d appreciate some feedback, just post it here.
If anyone else would like to try this out (individuals or groups, not just NHPC members) please email a link to your shared spot page to chrisfozzATmsn.com

It may not be obvious to everyone but this will only work in the UK as this is the area covered by OS maps.

Chris, if you're going to leave it on this page, I'll add the URL to my Spot Message. It looks very good.
See you out there!!!!!

Directions

Post by chrisfozz »

I don’t think anyone’s had a look at how to get directions –

1. When the page loads you have to agree to “share your location” – nothing bad will happen.
2. Click on the animated circle.
3. Click “get directions”.

See what happens.

So you have to get one of these spot devices to start. Is that right?

Chris, it didn't ask to share location, it just came up in a grey box under the names saying ' you decided not to share, don't worry we won't ask again'
Sounds like a great idea, can't wait to give it a try,,,,,now does it give a list of directions, or is it really out of this world and transforms into a Tom Tom?
For the John Millers does it produce a road atlas and open it to the right page and draw a line in pen on the roads to take?
See you out there!!!!!

No directions

Post by chrisfozz »

Hi Brian, if there is a compass icon with a red cross at the right of the address bar, try clicking on it, other than that try on your ipad or phone.
It only gives a list of direction, I'm still working on the tomtom ap and a magic atlas for john, although the directions page is a bit like this.

Ron, yes this only works at present with the Spot device, I'd like to hook it up with some of the phone tracking apps but this May take a little time.
