2014 Club barbeque

Post by berow »

As I mentioned at the club meeting I have spoken to the guitarist about performing at the do. He is up for it so here is the deal. £200 and we put him up for the night as well.
He will supply lights and P.A. so opportunities for any budding musicians to get up( although I havent discussed this ! )
I personally think this will make the night a very special one. He plays by himself, with backing tracks he has done by himself. I saw him and thought I must get his number as at the time I was thinking about leaving the country! To set up a tandem business, now theres a tale to tell sometime. I couldnt think of anybody better for my leaving do. So I can gaurantee you will be blown away by his talent.
Ideally it would be great to have the gig outside and inside if the weather is crap. Cosy I know but it would add to the intimacy and vibe.
Can I have a yay or nay from the club members. If you put nay we will have to discuss face to face
We need a date to get him booked as he gigs most weekends. Over to you Bill.

£200 out of club funds a defo Yes from me. One thing Brian will his kit work OK off the Generator electric? The way it appears to work is the genny works for about 1/2 an hour which charges up batteries of some description and runs the house lights I don't know how many amps it puts out? If his kit sucks a lot of power it might keep tripping the electrics. Come to think of it was there any sockets to plug into? There was gas for the cooker switches for the lights the wood burner for the hot water.... plug sockets???

I had a speaker plugged into the power supply for music. A P.A. I am not sure about the drain on the system however I don't see how it will be a problem. You are the best to know . Over to you.....

I must say I thought the casual singer and guitar players last year was tip top without the need of a pro. though not the best of judge as rarely lectern to music so easy either way :D :D :D :D

Milkhope BBQ

Post by John Wallis »

I'm going to suggest Saturday 6th Sept hopefully most of the holidays will be out of the way by then and we can look forward to a balmy late summer bash

If all agree next step is to clear it with the education establishment who run Milkhope but hopefully will be OK and Gary's shoulder will be repaired in time for the welly hoying comp again and the girls V the boys rounders comp ( Of course the girls will have no chance but they look pretty)

Some feed back from members would help "ENORMOUSLY" so me and Bill can plan this.

Cheers

I'm in. If it's agreed I will book the entertainment. Sorry to be pushy about it but each year we should try to improve it. If the guitarist isn't a hit I will eat my paraglider!!

6th sept is a good date!

I'll go with the flow regards the singer - sounds ok to me. Live music adds an extra dimension - just so long he's ok with acoustic only :D

I can pencil in the 6th but cant confirm until after 28th June as they are changing all the rotas at work

also very valid point about the power consumption we really need to find out what power consumption his gear uses it would be a bugger to pay his fee and find out he couldn't do his turn

also Brian how long is he likely to play for will he play till his fingers start bleeding   his fee seems quite steep fort a solo artist as I think daves band only charge that and there's four of them

If you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Stop being such a skinflint. I will put a hundred up if that makes it an easier pill to swallow.

My wife also thinks im tight  but seriously I'm not trying to be a skinflint just look after club funds which is your money, we were trying to keep the costs down as last years event turned out to be quite expensive
I do understand the need to get a booking asap but before I spend £200 on one item I would like some more feedback from other committee members so I am asking all committee members to give me a yea or nah in the committee section please do so as soon as you can

but the concerns about the power consumption is the biggest question we really need to find out if we can meet his needs for power otherwise everything else is irrelevant :D

There's about 12 bunk beds or your tent. Most people took tents or camper van last year. Will sort out a date once Bill has his rotor.

2 bunks please, unless there is a double. Keep one open for the artist, assuming we can drum up the money...
