I was next to fly waiting on the take off platform when Steve made this flight, he could have done it but made a couple of mistakes after take off which cost him some distance.
If you check out the youtube video you can clearly see that his body was under water with his helmet just sticking out for 3-4 meters before falling short of the 100m mark and in my opinion the distance marshall did not stop the flight at the 95 to 96 meter mark. The rules clearly states "When the pilots body is under water the flight is deemed to have stopped".
We do have to signed a form accepting that the Judges decision is final.
The Worthing event has suffered for the last 4years and spent over 54.000 defending this case and nobody has come out as winners.
Sad case indeed.
