Next meeting this Wednesday 3rd April
If you would like to find out who has won this year’s winter xc league come along to the corner house on Wednesday night where after the meeting we will be announcing the winner and presenting the trophy.
Also are the days of the stand alone flying instruments numbered with the development of i phones and these touchy feely pad things coupled with the right software why would anyone spend hundreds of pounds on a expensive vario gps when one of these gadgets seems to do the same thing at a fraction of the cost??
Well find out on Wednesday when Gary and Brian who have been flying with these gadgets will be bringing them along and will let you all have a touch of their touch screens and talk about the pros and cons
Another topic worth discussion is what wind strength is too much, I used to always go by if it’s too windy to take off at the top then it’s probably too windy to fly and if the wind meter was showing over twenty then it was defiantly too much .However after a couple of days recently, flying in windy conditions I am starting to have a rethink. With the latest generation of gliders are capable of flying much faster does it follow that we can safely fly in stronger conditions ,that’s if we can get around the difficulty of windy take off??? Food for thought???
Also if you still haven’t collected your t-shirts come and get them
So looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday should be a good night
