Sir Patrick Moore

Post by ron freeman »

Had the chance to meet this amazing man at the reception of the 2010 birdman in Bognor Regies, I never knew he had met Wilbur Wright, Neil Armstrong & Yuri Gagarin !

He had a great sence of humour and we talked about the 100m flight distance and when will be done, he kept a close eye on the event and was amazed at the hanggliders performance in all kinds of weather.

It must have been wonderful, to have met a icon. I use to to listen to him on the, Sky at night.

How did you come to meet him Ron.

Who would have thought Sir Patrick Moore would have been a subject of a thread on this web site. I went to a lecture of his many years ago. Interesting stuff, even for a dim wit biker (still got a bike you can make your own mind up on the rest) He was also a great advert for 'comfortable trousers'!

Hi Trevor, I forgot to mention Patrick was a 'Patron' of the International Bognor birdman trust and himself & George Able started the Birdman event back in 1971 in Selsey.

The Birdman event has now rasied well over the £650,000 mark for chosen charites !
