xc league and folks uploading

Post by gary stenhouse »

just looking at the board and there is very few people logging flights.

is this because very few people have gps recording or just cant be bothered as they see no point?

as i think there is so much thar can be lernt by looking at your flights and comparing as this year only 11 entries and the EN B catogarie is hardly suported this year.

give me your thoughts as is there only 11 members with gps, or is it you do not know how too?

cheers gary

another reason for uploading is that is good to see the routes paople took in order to achieve the same flight. comarisons are good as it will give the less experienced chances to view and studdy other folks flights

well that would be nice to see a return of the wallace to the hills even if it was for a show down. will you be on millers old wing, if you need to borrow a real mans wing then there is always the IP6 to give you a head start

Ip6 sounds like a version of Internet explorer even the mad dog could whop me these days. Got to say I don't know where I found the time to get out as often as Gary. Still hoping to get out soon waiting for a coastal day to get the rust off.

We had some great comps with the Pennine guys. One in particular when the second task was a race to the goal field in Alston. I thermalled up with Steve Elkins of Avian gliders got very high then almost straight lined it to Alston where he turned into wind with about 50 foot and me about the same on his tail. One hell of a race all done in about 15 minutes the conditions were epic. Pity we had to land :???:

you all must of been quite young lads back then and it seemed the camawaderi was as good and if not better back then.

i was saying to john how you managed to get everything organised with mobile phones and the internet?

also how the Northumbrian club was a force to be reckoned with back then given the selection of small hills. shows that performance in hg was in someways the death of it due to landing options and increased speed.

Landing was never a worry or an issue Gary you just gave yourself a little more time to pick a field unless you were racing Steve Elkins of course :) Yes the Northumbrians were feared in competition now were just a bunch of non competitive duvet flyers :P

the reason being that we are all getting middle aged as back then you would of all been sub 40 and more hungry.

it does seem there is a lot less you people coming into the sport compared to the early hg days? not sure why but you rarely see young pilots in there 20 in the uk. we are far too elite and must not give the right image to youg ones
