Winter flying holiday?
Hi, was wondering if anyone was thinking of a winter flying holiday. Two of us up for it so far. Preferences are Lanzarote in January or Febuary. Anyone else interested?

I'm off to Angodolondes Feb 16 for a week.
Never been gliding in Lanazorte but been there a few times and seen a couple, not many, gliders here and there.
Inland lanazrote away from the high density package holiday areas is an interesting place with some canny attractions such as cesar manriques and Lawrence Olivias volcanic houses and gardens.
Always warm, always windy - Famara Beach is a must. The cliffs overlooking Famara maybe worth a closer look?
Rough and jagged volcanic rock all over the island though and such a little outcrop of hard rock - could probably fly coast to coast in less than an hour and see the entire lanzarote landscape at just 2000 m : )

Hi Bill, Ed, in reply to "what's Lanzarote like for paragliding?" It tends to be days of strongish winds, then days on end of lightish winds. Most sites have decent top to bottom heights, so you can have several extended top to bottom flights in a day. We had some great thermaling days also.
We have generally had more flyable days than not. Dave Hunter took his paraglider rather than hanglider when we were there 2 years ago and got plenty of flying in.
It's just great to get away in Jan or Feb when its snowing at home and 6 hours later you're in shorts and tshirt.
We tend to stay in Puerto del Carmen which has loads of great bars and restaurants and a couple of bars with live bands.

Accomodation is very cheap. Haven't looked at price of flights yet. Car hire is about 100 Euro aweek, so ok, if we get a few sharing.
