Interesting finish to the flight

Post by brian day »

Well, after some fiddling with the computer I managed to find the flight and download it,,,,,,,well most of it,,,,,,,,apparently I'm hanging around 500ft above the ground,,,,,somone throw me some food please!!!!

That's what happens to your vario when you fly near a mast.

Without the vario I couldn't get the thermal cores and was gutted to see Gary and the other 2 pilots that I'de been with fly on for another 20k

For those worried,,,,,I'm not still at 500ft I got another climb before St Boswells but couldn't find the core and gave up with a final glide to near Kelso, where the intrepid retrieve (thanks Chris and Jan) picked me up before heading off to find Gary,,,,,,,,,have you got my spot,,,,Stenhouse.
See you out there!!!!!

Still a great flight Brian.

Sh1t happens and at least you were out flying and not stuck in changing smelly nappies.

You re 2nd in the league with only 1 flight.

Don't complain too much or we'll think Miller has got access to your login.

:P
You are only as good as your last flight........

Great work Brian!

I'm heading out now with a flapjack & a flask!

I hope one day I can fly as well as what you've done there, be happy with what you got.

Thanks guys, Glen the crappy nappies turn to petulant teenagers in no time, but will always be the best people in your life!
A few years ago I would be really annoyed, but I've got my head in the right place now. With or without the flight log, it was a great and difficult flight which I enjoyed.
The flight log is more about sharing it with people so they can learn from the good bits and not follow the mistakes. I've probably learned more from looking at flight logs from Kitt, Cav n Scammel,,,,,oh and the odd bit from that Guthrie guy,,,,than reading all the books.
It was a good weekend, great flying with some pilots I don't know even now having spent 4 hours in the sky working with them and even better a day in the happy bus with the great pilots of our club, never a dull moment!
See you out there!!!!!

i must say the radio crackled, oh no my vario's playing tunes what the hecks going on. but was a great flight as all of us were just meandering through the skies and catching lifts some good some bad, but never a dull moment. the first 30 was always touch and go and then things got better but every time the big walkout was looking possible you did start to pray. may be time to have one of them little solar varios for back up, but it was great to be on radio but do need a better set up to make easier ptt. what did come out was it's not that easy to stay with each other as you sometimes get the realy good climb and the other does not as the thermals were oftern broken across the sky. comunication was good and i do think that a spot would of been a great device for all to have to make easy and safe retreival

cheers gary
