Is it still fyable with all the wind turbines all over the top of it.
If Acro was easy they'd call it Cross Country

NYSC sites guide has it as a withdrawn site but i think it just gives the turbines as the reason why

Flown there several times in the past(1980's!). It's good when the wind is on the slope but will not tolerate any variance in direction or strong winds. Can be very turbulent mainly due to higher ground in front.

Looks to be still flyable as wind turbines are behind the hill.

Agree with Andrew can be really rough. Managed to get to Scotch Corner from there once when I was a real pilot :(

Hi Misk,

This is my area!!

I have flown this site both before and after the building of the turbines!! I haven't got maps with me as I am away at work North of the border. The take off I have used is along the B6301 about a mile and a 1/2 from Tow Law.

As others have reported, unless it is smack on the hill, rough is a very severe understatement - had one of my roughest ever flights here although it looks as though there should be no issues. Personally, I wouldn't bother with this site now as the new turbines leave absolutely NO room for error - you will be "misk-mince" if you get blown back!!

One of the best features of this site was the private nudist resort :yum: (alleged knocking shop) on the opposing valley side but given the current weather, i would imagine this would be v quiet!!

Anyway, hope you find an alt site.

Cheers,

Cheers,

How far north of the border are you? Tinto and the Ochils should be flyable tomorrow if your hours are flexable.........
