Flying in Japan

Post by Woody »

Just back from a flying trip in Japan, so have posted some photos. Spent a couple of weeks flying in the alpine region in central Japan and a couple of weeks flying the volcanoes in the south. The food was great, the people were great and the flying was probably the best I have found. Free flying is much bigger in Japan than in Europe so there are heaps of sites to choose from. Also, all sites are 100% managed and very well run. I made some good contacts while trekking about so if anyone wants to plan a trip feel free to get in contact.

Damn! Damn! Damn! Been there, and didn't fly!

Thermals in Tokyo have been so strong that a 747 was kicked about over the runway, and 6-inch thick bamboos were shaking, Hotel balcony - 16th floor - updrafts felt like 20-30 hfpm up!

Would have been scared "adrenaline"less if I was flying there, suppose staying up till the sun goes down might have been necessary for a nice landing!

Amazing Woody! You are such a dark horse flying at these exotic places. A slide show at a club meeting would be great.

Slide show

No worries, can bring some slides. Will be off flying in Singapore for November; New Zealand for December/Christmas and Oz for the New Year. Should be back in time to go to the Club Holiday in Lanzarote. Will take lots of pictures and try to sort out by the February meeting.

Probably be mid January. Numbers are about 7 or 8 at the moment. All hang gliders so far.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away.
