Club Comp & BBQ !!! Just a Thought

Post by Kay »

Hi guys.

We've been checking the forcast and although it seems to change by the hour..This weekend looks like it maybe flyable over in the Lakes.
SO..Should we maybe put our selves on AMBER AERT and think of actually squeezing in our 2008 Club Comp.

I thought if peeps were prepared we could have a last call on Friday night for the weekend..Comps Officer (I think is it you Gary !) can call The Comp for Sat or Sunday and away we go !

For the Get to gether and BBQ there is a great campsite near Bassenthwaite Village ...I am not sure of its name (Trafford Park I think..or is that where Man U play ! ) but Jan & Chris Keep their van there and we have stayed over many times.
It is a great little site..Very reasonable ,Hot showers and Loo..basic but good.
I am sure we would have no problems pulling in there forming an NHPC encampment....BBQ, Sausages, Guitars, Paper & Comb at the ready

What do you think ?

Amber Alert

Post by John Wallis »

OK chaps it's standby for this weekend paragliding club comp in the Lakes. I will be ably assisted by Paul and Kay and hope the task will have a bend towards open XC as I know there's a few guys out there still want some distance. Either that or set a goal a long way away. Scoring by GPS trace to keep the job simple. A joint decision will be made by 22.00 on Friday night.

http://www.meteonet.nl/aktueel/brackall.htm

The prognosis at the moment doesn't look too bad so positive thoughts and we might get a good weekend....Christ we deserve something out of the year.

Yes Miskums love to see you both there we need wind dummies anyway :o

Gordie are you chaps OK with this? We will of course adhere to all the site rules etc.

opp's sorry post this earlyer in the wrong thread:

We would be delighted to host you guys this weekend, considering most of you are memers of the CSC it would be very rude not to. All northern sites are open at the moment, however if you intend to use any southern ones then please contact Andy Plim.

We do have a policy of site usage policy for comps that they follow the schools example and pay the relevent farmer £5 per person per day. However this is designed more for high usage issues such as the nationals, for your situation maybe a bottle of something for the farmer might be a kind gesture.

Bottom line though is that we are all desperate to get in any flying and x.c.'s this year, and the more wind dummies the better! Infact it is about time we let all the locals know we are still here.

I think we might need a show of hands to judge the interest for this, there's no point if there's little or no desire.

By the way I can bring a largish BBQ (Bottom of a 45 Gallon Drum) so don't worry too much about that. Just bring food to cook.

Me and Claire will probs get over as long as the weather looks ok.

Hopefully it will be as good as it was on Monday. Me, Andrew and laughing Dave had a great time but did not see any other nhpc members there. Maybe they were hiding in the clouds?

If there's any low air time pilots interested let me know by posting here. If there is a seperate task could easy be set up on the same site the others are flying. The weather now looks dodgy but we're gonna ignore that because it will change again by the weekend.

That I presume is code tor East Hill?
Hmmm, that occluded front is doing a bit of a dance over the lakes for Saturday and Sunday at the moment.
However, the surf forecast is looking promising, so was last weekend the early 9-11 swell, or is it to be late this weekend? Either way, I get the feeling the 'September Sessions' are starting! :)
See you out there!!!!!

weekend's weather

Post by Kitt Rudd »

weather for the weekend is not looking that promising for a BBQ never mind a flying comp. Well as flyers one thing is a cert we are never short of optomism. All the best for the weekend. If things change I will come and join you all.

well if this weekend does not work then the 20th or the 21st has to be the next one. i think it is still possible to pull off some good tasks even this late in the year. also i will be free to fly this weekend as well. looks like friday could be the day for flying, though for me its golf rain hail or shine.

though sunday if its flyable i am not sure if i can get out

Hi All,
Is this the FREE club BBQ and FREE beer mentioned earlier?
If not, I would imagine there is a case for reducing the subs instead of increasing them next year

If weather is good we'll be heading across to the caravan at the camp site-Got a big gazeebo to put up next to it and music barbies and booze. :)
So if you are coming across head for the caravan at the back of the site with the Yellow security cover over the wheel.
Hoping for good weather at last

Looking at the pressure charts it does not look to bad in the great scheme of the present summer. An old inactive occluded front will bring a bit of low cloud and maybe light rain but it should not be to bad, winds not to strong.

One problem could be direction S.E. as this is Souther Fell which has a limit of 6 gliders max!!!!! due to the not to friendly farmer. It would not be great if you guys filled the hill and stopped locals flying, so if you were to use it then it would have to be a start point for x.c.'s along Blencathra, keeping gliders away from Souther. Alternatives would be West Fell, Catbells, White Pike (back of Clough £1 site fee) Coniston Old Man or Wrynose (ring Andy Plim fro south Lakes).

If Kitt did join you then he will know the current situation and provide some great assistance. Good luck.

where to go!

Post by Kitt Rudd »

Looking at wind direction I would be thinking of Wrynose (an easy place to start) with a view of flying up to Keswick, For the low airtimers there are things one can do out front which provide interesting challenges yet keep people safe.
Give me a shout if this is of interest and I will happily help out.
