Idiots guide?

Can anyone help with an idiots guide to removing old airmaps and replacing them with new ones, including the download bit for a Garmin 76cs please?

I've read them, it seems a bit drastic and you may lose everything. Steve put mine on originally and it seemed quite easy without any 3rd party software.
