Our boys are doing well with Miskin lying 2nd and Gary (I haven't got an XC in me) Stenhouse lying 8th. Gan on lads !!!!!

The Ginger one finished 5th overall!! A credible performance on his first real competition. Not sure about the rest of the men maybe they can fill us in with the storyline?

Cracking result by Gary for 5th overall. The second day task involved a push X wind for a mid course turn point. We all got downed in the same area bar 4 early leavers who beat the increasing wind to make a little more distance; no one made goal. I certainly spent a very frustrating hour thermaling away from course with a Tycoon as the wind picked up. We were unable to push back gradually getting ever further away than we would have been on a straight glide! Someone will be selling me a new harness soon as I've discovered that on full speed-bar my harness likes to put my head about half a meter below my feet, it gave Chris on the Tycoon a laugh as he went past me..........

Both days were won by Martin Sandsworth with day one being worth 150 and day 2 650.

I think the NHPC were

5th Gary
9th Ali
12th Me
? Chris Fozz & RON DON! (sorry Ron!)

This doesn't tell the full story though! On day one Chris would have come second in the task with a great flight to the turn point. Unfortunately a brain fart meant he missed an easy first turn point - a shame, nice flying Chris.........

Gary won the best DHV 1-1/2 prize until someone pointed out that his Golden2 had been slightly modified. Keep comping Gary, it's the easy way to learn. The performance of that Peak is really quite spectacular but yours went better than the other one, orange and ginger rocks - well done!

Brill performance by Gary last weekend, very well done.
Not such a good time for me in terms of results but I had over 6 hrs flying in 3 days and managed my second best xc this year so it wasn't a totaly wasted trip.
Excellent crack even though I was not up for the 3am finish on friday night , I realy enjoyed the company.
some people have been saying for a while we should go up there more often. I think we should do it.

I agree Chris it's yonks since I've flown Tinto but when it was pointed out to me that I live on the A69 then straight onto the M6/A74 it's probably not much longer than a run to north Yorkshire. There's been some bloody good flights from there this year too. Would they mind us flying there or would we have to join? What are the best directions for Tinto? I've only flown the side of it which i think was west or south west? Is north best? as we seem to hear the best results in a northerly.

From Tinto to my front door two hours. Set off 6pm in the house 8pm. Down the A702 on to the A74[m] then A74--then A689 Bramton to Newcastle. The traffic was light. Did not go above the speed limit---Honest.
All the sites we flew at Tinto area where about 15 min from Tinto

well what a weekend, some great flying with lots of otheres, what i will say it was good to get in among so many pilots and also be given so much help from the organisers with gps help. and naomi for coming to reetreive me and the boys, though i do beleive she enjoyed driving the truck more than flying. was a great weekend and i think we all came away learning something, and of course some of us did do some good flight prep with first of all a skinfull followed by 2.45am finish with neil snoring all night.

lets hope we can get togeather and go back to scotland soon as i had more flying in one weekend than most months

the LLSC website says you can fly Tinto in North-East to North-West, best in North, can be rough in North-West. We flew in benign NW last friday and the ridge was working fine although without much thermal activity.

I've only flown the north side, the south side looks good but I there is some airspace not far to the north. As Ron points out, the good thing about the area is most wind directions are covered by sites nearby (with the exception of SE I think)

Non Members must pay £2.00 per visit to Tinto which is ok by me but it seems obviously woth joining if your likely to visit more often.
