Retrieve driving and Tom Tom..........

Post by AlastairW »

Just been playing with Tom Tom Sat Nav and my Garmin this evening....

(yes..... I know it is so very sad.....)

BUT..... you can set your GPS to give details of your location using lat/long as a datum.....

AND THEN, you ring your retrieve driver, who can programme a location into there sat nav using lat/long...........

And if it happens to be Neil, in a couple of minutes you will see this bright blue Mitsibushi Tank bounding over the nearest hedgerow to come and meet you!!

But seriously.... it does avoid all of those "where are you??" " By a farm with a green door!" "What shade of green??" "How big is the door???" type conversations......

As I said earlier, SAD...... but check you know how to find lat long on your GPS, and also make sure your retrieve driver knows how to programme the sat nav via degrees/minutes/seconds.....
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........

Compeo will display Lat/Long after you press "Enter".

Format is DD:MM.MMM

Set up in-car GPS to default to this format, get your retrieve driver to do it once, and then it just works every time.

I am posting this on behalf of my husband.........

He is still in bed with a temperature of 104, he is not well and will post again once he is able to walk apparently - for all the ladies - a severe case of "man flu"!!

He passes on his apologies for not attending today and for letting you all down.

Moira, crook_101's better half!!
