The last person I would buy a glider from is a top competition pilot as it's likely been tweeked out to the max and while okay for him could well be too much for the average pilot. Feel free to disagree Gary W......

the good thing about been a novice come expert is what ever i fly i will have to adapt, and as long as you dont fly any one glider to long then you will never get set in your ways and learn to fly the ultimate machine stick to it learn on it and probably break uprights.

yes the exact symptons of denial!

i am sure there was a few who had wish they were on hg yesterday for one i have never been so high and consistantly high on xfell with the confidence of choice.

when i mean choice there were many times at height there would of not been an option to going out the back but with the extra speed and glide you could always pull back into wind. the extra security in strong conditions when boating about is great, and now landing a hanglider no longer seems to be such a scarry thing.

conditions like yesterday would of seen me on a pg go xc as it would of been bumpy and strong and this is when xc is fun and ridge soaring can be intimidating.

after 2.5 hours in the saddle though i do feel like i slept with mike tyson

Interesting comments Dave, I think there are a lot of PG's up and down the country who would love to try hanggliding because they can see what they can achieve and do.

They somehow think they are stepping back in time ? not the done thing anymore ? but the individuals who have the bottle to make there own minds up  and go ahead and learn and they love it :P

Gary, Iv'e flown your glider and it is without doubt a beautiful machine to fly ! when enter good thermals and you feel one of your wings rising ! don't shift your weight in roll straight away try pulling some speed first then go with it...this way you will save a lot of energy for big Xc's

( good tip )
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding :)

Dave, I can't fly a paraglider properly yet and have so much learning to do, and not enough time to do it. The speed of hangies is a bit intimidating and despite what the dog thinks, my pockets aren't very deep, so there is a big cost issue. I do keep wondering if higher, further longer, deeper are any better, it's just another envelop that they fly in, aren't sailplanes better?
Had a quick blast at kiteboarding yesterday,,,,,,mmmm 30mph skidding along the sand, then getting dragged underwater at high speed took me back to the learning curves on the windsurfer. As my son has all the kit, that may take the next spot in my time schedules, I'm just glad Gary had left, I don't think I could have coped with the piss taking!
Any way, back to hang gliders, I just enjoy a little light hearted banter, but no one seems to be taking the bait at the moment, John's usually up for it, but I think he is tiring with my persistence, I'll have to try a different tactic. I can't learn anyway, Ron's fully booked, either that or he's so sick of me he won't take me on!
Well looks like the winds starting to blow, so I'm off to drown myself again.
See you out there!!!!!
