CAA Mode S meeting

Post by Mike Brown »

How many are actualy traveling down to the meeting at Pocklington tonight? This is your last chance to make your feelings know to the decision makers direct before they make the rules!!
Lift available for three if you can get to Scotch corner area leaving 6.00pm
Cheers

Hi Mike it appears that everyone has reasons not to make it as far as I know nobody's going. The only one I'm not sure about is Ron Don. I was going with Andrew tonight but his standby has been moved and I've decided I'm not driving to York and back by myself tonight as I alone will have no bearing on the outcome. I've posted the Mode S email to the CAA hoping that might help.

Are you going?

Busy life's....

However I would hope the BHPA would be acting on our behalf and using the full weight of all its members to good use.

150 people are not going to make much difference to anything, so we want to hope the BHPA have got some plans in action, what else are they for if not this?

The BHPA are doing all they can, but if you don't turn up at these very important meetings you will just have to accept what happens.

I would be interested to know if there has ever been a mid air or near miss reported with a paraglider and an aircraft other than another glider?

Not sure how many people fly gliders in the UK but I guess its a few, I dont think the decision to make em carry very expensive bricks around is going to stop em. I would guess there could be a great deal of outlaws in the skies, unless common sense prevails.

I am thinking of the bowler hat type cowboy look, Yeee Haaa.

Apparently you also need a licence to operate a radio in certain bandwidths.

Mike Ron what was the general feeling from the meeting? Did the CAA mention anymore than we've read regards hang/Paragliding. Did they go into any depth on the transponder zones as that's an area that might get us lot.

Thanks
