Really enjoyed the little talk by Gary W, on Wednesday.
If you weren’t there for some obscure reason then you missed a treat, even the paraglider pilots, and there were a lot of them there, where carried away with the excitement of the unfolding battle of the slippy wings, and their eventual arrival at that, oh so distant goal field as Gary moved on with his illustrated tale of just one day at the World champion ships In Texas, US of A…..
God bless America,
McDonald’s, Wall mart, and Buzz Lightyear.
Buzz Lightyear!
It made me realise just how much of a Buzz Lightyear we really are….can’t quite remember the words ….
”That’s not flying….that’s falling with style”
…..I think they were the words to our hero. Spoken by Woody when Buzz jumped off the top of the bed, and finished at the bottom of the stairs…..And compared with the British team pilots does this not just sum us up?
…..Look at Gary Stens, submissions into the Cross country league, then look me in the eye and tell me that serious flying in the NHPC isn’t dead!
What is it about us?…..
Not only can we not stay up….we can’t even land properly without breaking something….Perhaps Gary W. can take pity on us, take us under his guidance for as long as it takes, and make us into a fighting force….Instead of a no go area of broken aluminium!
Still…I was glad that in the end, Attila the Hun, won the day…That little red trace really became an extension of ourselves for a short time as he stumbled expertly from crisis to crisis, dragging himself up from the boonies, taking only as much lift out of his climbs as he thought necessary, never letting his lack of altitude cramp his style….and there he goes, scorching into goal to the cheers of the whole of the NHPC…John Wallis, sitting next to me, nearly jumped out of his truss in excitement…Ron-Don shifted uncomfortably in his incontinence pants….and I nearly dropped a loop with all the shouting and back-slapping….
All great stuff. …..Even though it just brings it home to you even more just how far down the barrel we are….
Will we ever be able to cut the Cumberland Mustard some day I ask myself?
Great little presentation though…Thanks for that Gary…..and please don’t’ go spitting the dummy out when Gary Sten starts whopping you on his Rio!

Hey John, if Buzz had a GPS you could get the trace and enter it on the XC League, you never know, with enough flights like that you and Buzz could beat Gary

Can I claim the biggest top to bottom in Britain this year for the winter league?

Hey it's been a great year, what a good idea to change the dates of the winter league! :(
Under normal circumstances it was a great idea and made things simple, but the playing field is rarely level.
See you out there!!!!!
