While others were at the coast!
While others were at the coast. I got two flights in including my first flop over the back of the season. just shy of 9km which although not record breaking did give the chance of safe cloud flying and some cross wind gliding. Retrieves were great too.
Got back in to get another hour in and a bit more practice at weak thermaling. Not bad for Feb really.

Cloud flying!
Hi John
I used the word 'safe' as a means to define the impossibility to bump into a hill, (unlike other sites over here) as immediatly over the back it is virtually flat land flying, for about 18km. As for cloud flying there is nothing illegal about flying to base which is forming below 3000ft. As is often the case at this site, when you float over the back the cloud continues to form giving the pilot the opportunity to maintain at base while it continues to develop and with it a great experience of flying amongst the wispies. This is not the same as climbing up into the 'white room' which I personally find very disconcerting and distracts me from my xc adventure.

Fine..but
If cloud flying is your sort of thing....!!! fine its your life at the end of the day until another aircraft that can not see you decides to pay you a visit !
This is one of those reasons why we should have a private forum, stories like this should not be on our public forum.
The CAA would love this sort of material... have you forgot that the BHPA are fighting our case with reguards to everyone flying with transponders !!! think on....

Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding
Lighten up Ron, what I did, is exactly what everyone who wants to do xc will do at some point. Nothing wrong and certainly not illegal.
Putting it behind closed doors is not the answer in my book.
