Great day at Tailbridge!

Post by AlastairW »

Cracking days flying at Tailbridge....eventually.

Most of the NHPC regulars were there, with amazingly Hangies outnumbering floppies!

After waiting for the cloud to lift, everyone got into the air, and had a fun boat about on the ridge.

Bloody cold though..... I am just about to climb into a hot bath and try and restore some feeling to my legs......
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........

Aye..... just my legs.... Susan is away for the weekend in London..... :D :D

Weather was pretty iffy at Tailbridge. We stood for at least 2 hours before the clag lifted for long enough to get off.

But once it did lift it was good fun... playing "chicken" and seeing how far out in front of the ridge you could get before HAVING to turn back and scrape onto the ridge low down.

I was waving at Fingerzs a couple of times, who had landed at the bottom on his hg. At that point I was level with t/o, but as far out as the rise on the bottom landing.... 3/4 km

But a cracking turn out:

Gary
Fingers
Wallis
Mad Dog
Ronnie
Alan Westmorland
Wayne
Steve T
Alan
Andrew Maltby
Brian
Dave Hume
Me

and a few locals as well...........!

Apologies if I have missed anyone..... but I dont think I have?

WHY do we always have such a cracking turn out?

The forecast had looked good..... where were the locals? And why oh why are we all so keen???

Maybe it is something in the water up here.....

So that's where the NHPC were :???:

Same story at Cross Fell - got a good soaking but enjoyed a good punt around after that in the company of Mike Harper, James Jackson and Tony Eadington - all CSC show and all-floppys show. (ninja)

Well done Steve & Gary

Well done Steve Marshall and Gary Stenhouse for passing their CP hanggliding ! yes hanggliding.

Garys first 15min flight with a toplanding was spot on, Steve Marshall first 15mins was in light conditions at times and sometimes found himself below take off and managed to get back up it was great to watch (no doubt his PG experience paying off)

At the moment I have six new HG CP's under training and more enquires from paraglider pilots from out club.

Its all about time in the air, being able to do both sports increases your chances two fold.

Happy flying. 8)
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding :)
