Pro's and Con's

Post by Kitt Rudd »

The CSC are cautiously considering a members forum to help our otherwise very static site, I am interested to get the views of the users, moderators and admin as to the considered pro's and con's of such a feature.
I certainly enjoy some of the banter which takes place here and I find it a useful place to connect with folks I occassionaly meet on the hill yet don't have contact details for.

I am interested on other peoples thoughts

Provided you have a mug to run it and mods to control the inevitable barrage of porn you will get, the level of will depend on how clued up the person is who sets things up.

It could be your worse nightmare as there are millions of bots out there ready to pounce on unsecured forums.

BUT more to the point

Its a great tool for free speech, is the CSC committee ready for that?

Generally the forum is very helpful but now and again your members will need thick skin. All depends what sort of characters you have in your club. Just do it and see how it goes. I feel our club forum is great for keeping in touch, flight reports, photos, etc.

I agree with John, its a great tool and the banter can be great, its a great way of keeping in touch when its not flyable. Important issues can be brought to the forefront without red tape, in general its great.
As John states, you sometimes have to be thick skinned, but being Cumbrian sheep shager's and users of spagnum moss I dont think you will have a problem with that. (chuckle)

Our forum is a great tool but... the written word is more open to misinterpretation, offence sometimes taken where none intended.
