I threw my washing at Olu Deniz

I put this on the Pub bit, but in case you don't go on there here's my explanation of my deployment........

You've all probs heard I had to throw my reserve so I thought I'd let you know why in case you thought I was in trouble, thats not always the case. After my first full stall the experience of it was immense, then straight away you have to do it again and you are still recovering from the first one. If you've ever done it then you know what I'm talking about. Coming out of the stall I had a cravat and came out aysmetrically, when it was out it threw me into a spin. When I say spin, I was flat out going like the clappers. Jocky was telling me "right brake right brake, throw your reserve throw your reserve" but we'd been taught how to get out of tricky things so I kept trying. The force was so great after going into a cravated SAT that I physically couldn't pull any harder, at which point i let go the left brake and used both hands and all my weight to get it to stop spinning. I felt it change direction and finally pulled it out. But as it was still cravated, it started off again, but i was ready for it this time and wrapped my right brake line round my arm a few times and pulled like mad. I then stopped it again, kept the right brake on pulled my stabiliser line and got the cravat out, all the time Jocky is saying "throw your reserve, right brake" etc. So after ALL of that i heard him say "well done good control turn to the beach you are going to throw your reserve in a second". Why? I thought, but when i turned to the beach I was too far away to get back so that was why I had to throw it. So I got the handle pulled it forward threw it back and out it came. After a very controlled descent into the sea I threw up on the boat. I get very sea sick you see, but after 16 revolutions at high speed and the rocky sea and boat it was just all too much for my stomach, so I fed the fish.

It was very calming to hear Jocky over the radio and knowing that after the briefings I knew what I could do to get it out, I would recommend a course with him to anyone. I am going to do it again next year as I didnt get to do a turn reversal or search for a spin. And no I'm not getting rid of my glider as the guys on the beach washed it thoroughly and I went on to fly it straight away the next day after it was dried and ground handled and there was no difference. I will get it serviced though just to make sure.

My apologies to Andrew Maltby who was above me watching and waiting to do his stalls, he didnt get the chance, so sorry Andrew. Also thanks to everyone else for the round of applause. I was disappointed with myself that I had to throw the washing but how else could I have gotten back to the beach, and the guys said it was fantastic so now I'm really proud of myself.
