I was thinking myself to get qualifies as had a tandem for the last 4 years and used it a few times.
so I got in touch with the BHPA as the fact sheet is not to clear that I have enclosed. there have been a few changes September 2015 after the insurance was put up with further points to be adhered to.
firstly you must be pilot rated
you have to have 100 hours
you must train with a tandem instructor or a tandem club coach NHPC does not have one as they checked for me.
then after you have done the training the biggest change you have then to be assessed by a external instructor so quite a bit more in depth.
I have a feeling mine may be gathering dust a bit longer even though I have over 1000 hours the consequences of being sued, and don't fancy that
cheers Gary
all the talk of tandem flying i thought i would get a bit of

Tandem rating
Hi. Gary, I'll give the BHPA a call tomorrow, they should of told you about my school and that I can do Paragliding & Hanggling tandem ratings. The BHPA have had to re-think the dual rating licence due to some accidents because of the lack of training and currency.
Maximise your time & dosh do both Hanggliding & Paragliding
