NHPC Skiing / Boarding holiday

Post by John Wallis »

We've never had an NHPC skiing holiday and I was just wondering if anyone fancies this? I know there's loads of skiers/borders in the club and some who want to try but haven't. Can you imagine how much fun we could have if we filled a chalet somewhere. My main problem is Kate works term time and it creates problems because it costs more during the kids holidays. Not sure on resort but one that springs to mind that has a short flight and a short transfer is Chamonix. Been there loads of time and I never get sick of it.

Any one think this is a good idea? or any other suggestions?

Sounds great John & usually I'd jump at the chance of another snow holiday but I'm booked up for Tignes 30th Jan to 6th Feb, moving house & saving for the NHPC flying holiday with Lee Tryhorn in May....that doesn't mean a definite no though!

Again I think its a great idea but its the wrong time of year for me, having 5 kids Christmas takes its toll.
If Acro was easy they'd call it Cross Country

I haven't been on skis since Xmas 2011! I'd be up for a snow holiday but all depends on when and for how long. I've booked up loads already and only got one week and one day left out of my June to June annual leave. Will watch this thread and see how it comes along.

Great idea John. I've promised my daughter Lily to take her on a skiing holiday this winter. She is a good skier but I need to touch up on mine. Are you suggesting a family type holiday or all adults from NHPC..

Hi Guys the only date we (Kate and me) can do it due her her school job are Sat Feb 13th for a week which is the spring half term making it more expensive. But if there's enough interest I can get prices from Inghams and Crystal Mehdi can't see any probs bringing your daughter it would only add to the fun. Kate's not a strong skier so have to tend to keep on the easier stuff that's not to say all the time tho

Feb half term is the most expensive week of the year :-( I know,,, I've suffered school holiday prices for a very long time, interested, see what the prices are.
Snow domes can work out expensive for what you get, may be able to do something for Braehead,(or how ever it's spelt) or Chill Factor, but that means putting up with Glaswegians or Mancs!!!!
See you out there!!!!!

Well Brian (Day) is right. Chamonix Ingham's already sold out on those dates Crystal have no Chalets as I can see cheapest hotel from £1068 PP plus your ski pass @ £300ish ski hire if required about £100 plus spending dosh £1460 x 2 for me approx £3000 :o

Zermatt my favourite starts at £1554 plus etc etc

Too expensive for me I'm afraid.

What about an NHPC weekend up to Glenshee instead :)

Yes John, a week earlier or later it would probably have been around £300 each on a deal!
I've suffered these prices for to long, no other industry would get away with it,,,but now I'm free,,,,,who gives a sh**
Weekend in Glen Shee or any of the others sounds great to me, but getting that weekend with snow on the ground and sun in the sky with no wind will be another matter!!!!
Mid week will be better,,,no crowds!!!!
See you out there!!!!!
