Love it...Hate it!

Post by MadDog »

That little bit of flying on East Hill on Friday afternoon has done wonders for me...Why...I almost broke into a smile in the car on the way home.
And I suppose the other half a dozen proper people who were there felt exactly the same as I do....
Only they can't write with the joined up stuff, yet.
I mean, to even get above the top of East Hill is an achievement in its own right.
And because it wasn't too much of a struggle to stay up. I found myself studying the pilots, I use the word loosely , that were flying with me.....And there you go....
All set for an airborne appreciation.?
Try this one then, from three hundred feet above take off
Angus.....never stopped trying to make that quantum leap from going down to staying up , keep trying bonnie lad......It will all come together soon.....
Lloyd....the East Hill distance record holder, struggling with a glider too far past its best....so took out his zaggy to get to the top of the stack
Eddie....just kept flying too far down that fast leg....and paying the price because of it
Andrew Maltby.....Higher than me most of the time......and that's why I hate him
And now I know why people have an aversion to green.
RonDon......Beware when you see his one hand above his head.....He's catching you on that candid camera of his......
Smile, someone may be watching!
Gary Sten...Made sure he got there late, and all the aces had landed, or gone home, so he wouldn't be humiliated.....what a loser!
Brian Nellist...The clubs handsomest man, and one of my favourite persons.....He'd just came from humping up to the top of Old Bewicke....Now what's wrong with our company Brian?
Trevor.....Tried it....but didn't like it......went home early to dig out his hang-glider and give it a cuddle.
Noam....couldn't get the kids adopted in time, So got himself there too late for the goody's
But, Isn't it just so good just to get your feet off the ground in these days of fickle winds?.....and East Hill has such potential I think......granted that most of the time it doesn't seem that way....most times it takes gale force winds just for it to work , and there are more people going cross country from it by being dragged over the back on launching, than there is in the accepted way....
But you've just got to love the place....It's just so handy......and when that sea breeze comes in ....It can round your day off just nicely.....So don't let Super-Ron hear you calling the place, just cos you can't stay up there.....learn to love the place as I have....
Except when I have a bad day there!
But the one thing that was missing on Friday, was that there were no hang gliders there......
Now there is nothing better than seeing a hang glider pilot, kicking his glider down in the bottom landing field.
Now that really would have rounded my day off!

Love it & always will!
I even love the walks back up the hill & yes, I will miss them some day when I get to stay up longer than a pornstar!
