2012 XC forum

Post by Sad Northerner »

Hi All

just wondering if anyone fancies meeting up for a pre-season XC chat/beer. I can't make the next meeting as I'm away so perhaps we could meet on the hill, in a cafe or perhaps at the pub somewhere.

The forum will be open to all and reasonably informal. I would like to cover subjects like declaring flights, airspace, weather and site selection but discussion points can remain flexible.

Anyone interested?....if so post here and I'll try and sort a location and time.

I'm interested. Let me know before you fix a date as my time off is variable.

Looking forward to it.

That's two of us so far.

What's the pub called at Horsley?

Could you advise on airspace/airlaw?

It's the Lion and Lamb at Horsley. Let me know when your thinking of and I'll pop in and see if the rooms free.

Hi Ron

I can't make the next meeting and feel that, with the XC season soon to emerge, those interested in XC need to meet fairly soon to prepare. However there is no reason why we couldn't have another session at an NHPC meeting; perhaps in April.

Cheers

sounds good i think it would be good to have one in the april meeting so we can have a structured meeting with a lecture strokeninformal questions and answer. yesterday was as close to an xc day as you get down the mynd a few went but only got 20k.

a meet up never comes a miss as well i also think a bit of a talk on advanced flying tecniques and rapid decent maybnot be a bad idea as well as they can be needed when things get strong.

Hi All

This Saturday has been set aside for the 2012 XC forum (venue and time to be announced).

This is an open invitation event but will be focused on getting the most of 2012 XC potential, (team flying, site selection, communication, logistics and airspace etc), and not an XC coaching session for beginners.

The meeting will be through the day and either on the hill (if it is flyable) or in the pub/ cafe.

I'll post again with the time and venue nearer to Saturday.

Interested?

Sounds good and I can probably get the Cricket Club bar opened for us to use at Threlkeld landing (football) field if that suits. Fantastic beer as well as tea & coffee.

With the possibility of flying (locally) looking questionable a few of us have agreed to meet at the Lion and the Lamb in Horsley at 11am to chat about XC. If conditions improve I'll post again here in the morning and we'll organise another meeting place closer to a flying option.
Anyone interested in tagging along best drop me a line first on 07859935159

Cheers
