Jim Bittlestone joins the big League

Post by Chris L »

After flying for only 3 to 4 years Jim has flown almost 120k from Tinto to Alston and could have gone further (if not for his pea sized bladder)
What an incredible achievement (and an NHPC pilot to boot)
We had a celebratory pint at Moffat on Sunday evening and I arrived to see Jim join the big fish of the paragliding world, sat on a table in the beer garden with Mike Cav, Steve Etherington, Ali G, Ed Cleasby, Dave Smart etc etc
Although I felt like a minow of the tiddler league I sat down at the same table along with Jan (who also whopped me this weekend with a good flight over the back) and we had a good bit craik in the sun before heading home. An excellent finish to a good weekend
It was great to catch up with everyone afterward and on the hill (and especially Geoff Yeadon a cave diving legend who recounted some epic tales of daring do)
Overall a great weekend which left me looking forward to more.
Good to see Brian Nellist there and flying in some challenging conditions and see Gary rise from the tiddler league to greatness again after his long XC flight late on Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the retrieve on Sunday Stuart.
I'll be doing my 100 miles next weekend across the Lakes but not in the air, but by foot
Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Cheers Chris, not sure about the big league, I'm still just clinging on to 30th in the National league, but every dog has its day I guess.
Good luck to you and Jan next weekend you pair of nutters!

Great flight Jim, well done indeed.

Yes. A wonderful flight Jim, and to start from the land of the kilt.
