Great North Fly-In

Post by Dave Hume »

The Great North Fly-In is taking place this weekend at Eshott Airfield in Northumberland. Paramotors and powered hang gliders are welcome to fly in or just rig and fly from the airfield. Last year we had several powered hang gliders fly in from Cumbria. Anyone is welcome to drive in and enjoy the attractions which this year include a spitfire display from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which is an ex Eshott spitfire making it's first return to the airfield since WWII. Other attractions include a Starduster aerobatic display, David Tremayne in his jet powered car with which he hopes to break the British Land Speed record (though not at Eshott), a variety of vintage and military vehicles and a Sea King helicopter from Boulmer, and of course your's truly with his band "On The Rocks" performing some classic rock in the marquee on the evening. Entry is free though you will be invited to make a donation of your choice to Help For Heroes in the bucket provided. The bar and barbecue will be open throughout the weekend with all proceeds once again going to Help For Heroes.

Look forward to seeing you there.
