The famous Selby bus, still residing round the back of our hangar looking very forlorn these days. I heard the stories of Alan turning up two days before the off (trip to France in said bus) to find the bus up on axle stands, no wheels no seats and no engine, but Selby still had it ready in time.Bob Sutherland wrote:Rear, Peter Talbot, Chris Foster, ??, ??

Back row, Peter Talbot from York.... went to Lanzarote with us once, never heard from again. Chris Foster.... dissapeared over to the dark side (paragliding). Dan Parsons..... Borrowed Alan's mosquito and flew it into a tree making the local TV news then turned up at Eshott learning on the microlight, bought a half share in a Quasar then got engaged, sold up and disappeared down south. Not sure on the others, apart from Selby and Alan of course.

happy days
The two unknown pilots are Harry Macliffe (not sure about the surname)who lives down beside saltburn and might still fly a hang glider and John (definatly dont know his surname) lived up at Hawick , part time fireman and probably the most experienced of us novices at the time. Nice chap but never seen him again since the trip.
It was an experience i will never forget.

Wouldn't have been a John Gray by any chance? Keeps his wing in the council workshops in Hawick.chrisfozz wrote:The two unknown pilots are Harry Macliffe (not sure about the surname)who lives down beside saltburn and might still fly a hang glider and John (definatly dont know his surname) lived up at Hawick , part time fireman and probably the most experienced of us novices at the time. Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away.
