Hi

I am contacting you as the listed Club Contact for your local flying club.

I wanted to drop you an email about the changes and news occurring at xTc Paragliding in order that you may forward details to your club in your newsletter or on-line forum.

I am sure you have heard of xTc and it's owner, Brett Janaway. xTc, based in the UK, has been operating as a guiding service for HG and PG pilots for around 6 years, predominantly in Slovenia, but also in the Pyrenees. We are a full time, professional organisation that employs 4 guides throughout the season and it's lead guide, Brett, a BHPA Exec member, currently holds the Free O/R British Record XC in Slovenia, amongst other historical achievements and flies both HG and PG as well as microlights. xTc guides HG and PG groups.

CLUB DISCOUNT
The main news I am wanting to get out to the clubs is about the discount we have just introduced to UK based customers. With the current recession and the present exchange rate there is no doubt that funding foreign trips in 2009 is going to be hard for individuals. Therefore xTc have decided to offer a 20% discount on it's trips throughout 2009 for all bookings received before 31st March in response to this problem. This discount is unlikely to be repeated in future years.

Our trips are suited from 'just CP' to 'skygod', flying in the amazing scenery of the Julian Alps, where several World records are held in the sport. We offer a variety of types of trip from 'XC week' (for higher airtime pilots) to 'Pilot week' (where CPs can attend and complete the tasks and exam for their Pilot rating) and standard 'fun weeks' where the standards and flying are mixed. Slovenia is an Alpine country, but is not so extreme as the French Alps, allowing quality flying throughout the day, regardless of the pilots experience. xTc offers transfers, transport, accommodation and guiding/coaching and Slovenia is accessible with Ryanair/Easyjet from Stansted or to Venice from most major UK airports giving a huge range of cheap and easy travel options.

We are currently seeking Club enquiries before we start accepting too many individual bookings in order that we can offer Clubs exclusive weeks. A club booking must be a minimum of 6 pilots but can be as many as 15 pilots. Generally we prefer group sizes of 8-12 pilots.

DATES/SEASON
Slovenia is unique in it's climate. Despite it being smaller than Wales it has some of the most diverse weather in the world. It contains the huge Alpine region, with it's peak, Triglav, being just under 10,000ft high, but it also has a Mediterranean climate in the south and a continental climate in the east. This means you can enjoy some spectacular flying in the Alpine area in the summer (May-Sep) but in the winter, or when the weather turns bad in the summer, you can skip down to the south and enjoy thermalling throughout the year. The drive from our summer mountain base to the southern flying region is just 90 minutes!

Here are some highlights of our coming trips;

Wed 4th to Sun 15th March. Hang glider trip. Early Spring thermalling. Transport of your HG to Slovenia can be arranged
Wed 18th to Wed 25th March. Paraglider trip. Early Spring thermalling. Easy Ryanair flights to Slovenia

13th May. Summer season starts.
Wed 8th to 15th Jul. BHPA 'Pilot' course for CPs to complete their tasks.
Wed 15th to 22nd Jul. High airtime Pilots only. Record chasing camp (Pilot and Alpine experience required)
Tue 25th Aug. The season starts in the Pyrenees, Ager.

For a full overview of the season see here;

For further information and with any questions please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. Also note, the dates and activities listed can still be changed to suit your clubs requirements, providing contact is made early enough.

Best regards
Brett Janaway
