Radio headsets?

Post by brian day »

I've got an Alinco DJ195, having changed from a full face helmet to an open one I have looked at many options to make the helmet/radio connection. I bought a throat mic, but it only seems to work when it feels like it.
Anyone got anything that works properly and where did you get it from?
See you out there!!!!!

Brian I've tried them all but still prefer just the small Mike that clips onto the front of the harness or my flying suit (£10-15) I'm not a great lover of wires down the arm I can't be bothered with them. I've got a boom mike and PTT for the side of the helmet used about 3 times here somewhere. If it's what you're after you're welcome to it FOC.

I'm using one of these on an open face helmet with the mic up by my ear. It is working just fine and apparently quite clearly. I think (?) Icom = Alinco, a check on line should confirm that?

Hi Brian, Well I have tried ALL sorts of mic's & PTT's and always seem to break them :???: . So, I have reverted to turning the volume UP LOUD. Its great I have the radio on a small loop round my neck (the line is breakable incase it tries to garrot me !) I can usually hear all the banter.
Talking back is a bit tricky I have to say, but it does stop me chatting about the price of fish !! while i'm flying. So far I have always managed to communicate if I want to......A Cheap Option :)

Because he's not as miserable as you probably. Radios are an excellent tool when flying either on the ridge or even more so on a cross country flight. They are also very useful for talking to people on the hill for a wind report. And should you land out and hurt yourself how valuable would it be then? However I do agree contant chatter about nothing gets on yer tits a bit.

But you already know all this Mike you're just pretending to be miserable ....Aren't you?

Im not miserable John!! Happy as a pig in *****!!! It's all the bollocks talked on radios that spoils it's usefull purposes as you say. Any way they are only any good when you land out if someone listening in happens to be in line of sight.See you at the coast tomorrow??
Cheers
