Flying the coast today.

Post by AlastairW »

Looks like it might be possible to hav a fly at Horden this afternoon.

Wind at S Shields is currently 7mph ESE, but forecast to back and strengthen as the day goes on.

Anyone fancy a trip to Horden? I plan to set off about 12:30
It is sad to measure your life in terms of hours flown...... but even sadder not to.........

It would appear there is a technical hitch with down loads at the mo.
Flew for about 3.5 hrs in all. the wind was east at first and had to fly the left hand side of the bay no nesting birds all-was well.
landed my demo wing "nivuk hook" and could not stall the thing. standing on the top of a cliff with my arms behind my back and the wing still trying to fly. hooked my leg under the fence and collapsed the wing to my great relief. Flew again after a cup of coffee in the newly refurbished marsden grotto. wind now NE, was able to fly over the lift shaft but encountered very rough air behind marsden rock. That is to say i stopped smiling and didn't go back. Landed on the beach the second time as the wind had increased and i did not want to find the rotor on the top. all in all a very pleasant afternoon but would have preferred to have flown with someone who knew the site.
ps i lost my wallet bugger. <<)

Tynemouth long sands turned oout to be a cracking afternoon flight to recover from a hangover after a heavy drinking session from a wedding on Saturday. Flew past St Georges Church and down toward the Grand Hotel and back.
Bit of a pose as spectators lined up to take photos :home:
