steve is that a site record for tailbridge as I am sure it is very nice flight from a site that I have never seen a bigger than 30k done?

We were on hill rigging the gliders and discussing where we were going to fly. One of the rigid wing flyers said he was going to fly down Mallerstang valley, then down Wensleydale, then down wind out of the Dales. I said I would fly out towards Barnard Castle and land on the coast near Horden because if I went down on route, it would be easier to get home.
I left the hill soon after with a small thermal that wasn't big enough to have lift all the way round,(though they never get much better than this at T.B.) and was soon regretting it about 15mins later looking out for landing fields and roads for a walk out.
A scrappy thermal soon improved and walk out avoided. Low again on descending ground off the hills, then when high again it was easy.. too easy.
I pulled out from under a climb near Willington at about 4400' into a blue hole where I was sure to hit sink, but instead I was still going up fast, flying in a straight line, blue sky above and trying to avoid the bottom of NCL approach (4500alt-FL55).
Over Seaham harbour and I was trying to get down now. I managed to loose 1000' before thinking of heading back in land closer to my girlfriends house for a possible lift back.
Checking instruments later and gps altimeter said 4529', pressure altimeter said 4509', so yes in airspace, but to complicate things pressure alt said 401' at landing, gps 331'. At takeoff press 1700', gps1810'. Don't know what the regional QNH was at NCL at the time. So will undoubtedly delete the flight.

Nice one Steve....there's nothing better than flying home over familiar ground if I had still lived in Seaham you could have dropped in for a coffee, actually you could have dropped into Wingate from that height too lol ....season aint over yet mate, keep it up (literally)

If I had done this type of flight, and I was lying in my bed, the thought of it would have lulled me to sleep. Ron.
