How to use.
To create a route you need to select an airport, this will create a waypoint that can be moved to any point on the map.
So lets say the gods have blessed you and you plan to fly from East Hill into the Scottish Borders (but keeping out of airspace).
Select 'New Route' Take Off From: Newcastle (EGNT) and Landing at: Edinburgh (EGPH) then click 'Create Route'
You will now see a line from Newcastle (EGNT) to Edinburgh (EGPH). Now drag the Newcastle waypoint to somewhere near East Hill. And drag the Edinburgh waypoint (somewhere else) North West. You can add waypoints to the route by dragging any point on the line. Even triangles are possible.
The upper right panel will show you your route briefing, any relevant airspace and NOTAMs.
One more thing. The bottom right panel 'Route' increase the fight level to (cloud base to) show upper airspace.
Safe flying
