Apologies for the unsolicited email. I got your email from the BHPA website and thought your club members may be interested in our forthcoming thermalling courses, especially if any of them are competing in the Ozone Chabre Open for the first time.

Sussex Paragliding are running the following courses this year in Laragne, in the French Southern Alps. The first course is the week before the Ozone Chabre Open and will be a fantastic opportunity to any pilot who is looking for a pre comp XC course.

Thermalling XC Courses - French Southern Alps - June & September 2010

After another highly successful trip last September we have organised two more trips for 2010. This time we are running a course in June and a course in September. We would love you to join us for one week or two, flying in the French Southern Alps staying in a luxury villa. All rooms are en-suite and there is a swimming pool for post flying relaxation.

We will be based very near the world famous flying site of Chabre, Laragne-Monteglin, home of the Ozone Chabre Open. see www.flylaragne.com for more info.

David and Rachel's knowledge of the area is second to none and they will be helping us to get the most out of our flying in the area. Rachel regularly flies 100km + flights on her Ozone Mojo.

This is your opportunity to learn how to fly cross country over an amazing landscape with experienced instructors and feathered friends including Golden Eagles and Honey Buzzards.

Joining us on our first course will be the highly experienced Chris Dawes - British Cross Country Champion, World Record Holder, British Paragliding Team member for many years and BHPA Chief Flying Instructor.

June and September are a great time of year to fly XC here and we aim to take your flying to the next level. We will have daily weather briefings from David followed by XC lectures from Jonny,Tim or Chris. To help you get the most out of the course there will be individual goal setting and individual debriefs every day.

Using the latest flight software we will also be able to examine XC flights using 3D maps on a big screen. This is a great technique for gaining a better understanding of XC flying.

We encourage pilots to fly with their own GPS so we can debrief their flight in 3D on the projector screen.

Costs and Getting There
The €850 price includes en-suite accommodation, breakfast, lunch, transfers, guiding, lectures, seminars and all transport.

Flights from UK to Marseille with Easyjet and BA are currently under £99 return inc.taxes and inc. 20kg hold luggage and your paraglider.
You may prefer to drive or get the train. Laragne is about 9 hours from Dieppe by car. You can also get a train from London to Aix-en-Provence for under £200 return.
