Flying holiday in Millau

Post by andrew-billington »

A number of us are planning to go to Millau for a Paraglideing Holiday from 10th to 19th July. That would be flying to Nice from Newcasle on the 10th and back from Nice on the 19th. This would also give us 8 full flying days.
Nice to Millau is 437Km (273 Miles). I suggest we stop over on route to and from Nice at a Youth Hostel at Aix en Provence on the evening of the 10th and 18th July to break up the Journey. The Youth Hostel is E17.5 per night.
Millau has some greate flying site and corss country possibilities.
We intend to stay at the Cote Sub camp site and hire a mbile home with the mod cons.

Those interested at present are:

Andrew Billington
Bill Scott
Wendy and Colin
Chris Foster
Ron Donaldson

Please reply to this post if you are interested. This is a popular spot so we need to book soon to secure accommodation.
Flying from Newcastle to Nice with sports equipment and 1 hold bag is currently £127.48
A mobile home for the week is E366-E438 depending on what you want.

Total cost would therefore be about £350 For travel, accomodation and car hire based on 4 sharing.

Here is a link to information about Millau and the Campsite, prices etc..

Damn! Can only get the first four days off. Never mind, might have to join the second club trip in the Autumn.

Would love to join you, but I think you have taken the cheap option and booked when I'm still at work. (lucky lot). But if I don't get another contract for next year, I will be on the list!
See you out there!!!!!

I've booked last week in July 1st in August off work as Julie works term time. I've tried to negotiate with one of the guys who is off that week but he's booked and can't change so I can't make those dates for Millau.

However.....

Talking to Maltby today and we might have a long weekend at Lachens (Alps Maritime) later in the year. This would also be a flight to Nice and a 1.5 hr trip to La Roque Esclapon along the route Napoleon which is the base for all flying at Mount Lachens. This is a good area for low airtimers as the paragliding school operates from here.

We need a hang gliding contingent for this trip I think. I'm definitely interested in going but unfortunately I don't think Sleazyjet take hang gliders anymore. I'll work on getting a couple of others to share a car for the drive down.....

Cheers

I am waiting for a response from Cote Sud about accomodation for July and just wondering if any other non flyers were going.

My Mrs is concerned about being stuck on the hill all day while I go off chasing Sky Gods. But I ve assured her that given my level of ability and recent preactice that she'll see me sooner than she thinks.

Once Cote Sud get back to me I'll book flights et al.

:D Great to see so many are coming to Millau. Dave (Hume) get your arse in gear and get organised. Millau is perfect for stiffies with top driveable sites and friendly takeoffs and landings.

Millau accommodation

Post by andrew-billington »

Seems like a number of people have booked at Cote Sud. I have booked a Mobile home with four beds for Bill Scott, Wendy, Colin and I, but this can apparently take upto 6 two on the couches. I suggest we review the accomodation already booked to see what room is available.

Regards
Andrew

Could you confirm if this is right Youth Hostel in Aix......

YOUTH HOSTEL
AIX EN PROVENCE
3 avenue Marcel Pagnol
Quartier du Jas-de-Bouffan
13090 Aix-en-Provence

Looks like there might be room for a small one in my caravan at Cote Sud and there may also be a flight ticket available as Arrif can't now have the time off for thew trip.

I've booked a Bambi Caravan (double plus 2 small beds and the floor  ) if anyone wants to pitch in.
