Cross Fell to Talkin Tarn Challenge

Post by John Wallis »

Here's a thought for the coming season or maybe even before the real season starts. A day when all on the hill commit to flying from Cross fell to Talkin Tarn landing and taking off as necessary. No awards just the fun of doing it.

Anyone fancy giving it ago?

Hasn't this been done in one go on a hang glider? I know Ronnie's been on about it in the past as a challenge, but without the walking bit.

Just a heads up. I know Talking Tarn was used as a site by a number of pilots a couple of years ago. From what I understand nobody ever paid the farmer the courtesy of asking to use his land and after a few times the site got used he got very upset and ask that nobody flies there anymore. I would suggest that if you were to do a fly /walk challange over this area of ground that you visit the farmers at sensative areas such as Cumru and T/Tarn to inform them of your intention and hopefully not esculate any already sensative situations.
