Hi Jim,
Raise is a great wee ski area. It is run by the Lake District Ski Club http://www.ldscsnowski.co.uk/
Skiing occurs when ever there is any snow. The hardend regular members are all retired and get up there when ever they can. Bernie the top man has already had the tow running this year and had a couple of runs. Keep your eye on the webcam for snow conditions and then ring the snow line for upto date info.
To join you become a member and then pay by the day or for a season pass, details on the web site.
Check out me filming a mate last year for an idea of the run length when there ain't much snow. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iwf055Mxf38 When there's loads its epic and I snow kite to get there from the Back of Clough (the site where we first met).
Hope to see you up there, maybe even this weekend....
Lake's Outlook for Thursday
Showers or longer outbreaks of rain, the showers becoming increasing wintry during the day. Strong northwesterly winds over the summits with a significant wind chill and the freezing level down to around 900m by dusk.
Outlook for Friday
Cold with a severe wind chill. Bright and sunny spells, but risk of the odd snow shower leading to blizzard conditions at higher levels. Freezing to most levels.
