Remembering Gary

Post by gordie »

A year ago today one of our good friends and fellow pilots, Gary Porter was taken from us in a tragic flying accident in France.

Over the past year Gary has never been far from my thoughts and even though I will always carry a heavy heart from what happened. When I think of Gary's infectious personality and happy persona, I count myself lucky to have shared with him so many happy times on many a sunny hillside.

We can only guess at the gap Gary's passing has left in the lives of his three children, Sherri and his Mum Jeane. But perhaps take this opportunity to have a little thought for them and Gary on this rather sultry day.

Over the weekend Gary's family in his memory have had a fund raising event for the Northumbria Air Ambulance and raised £1300 for this worthy cause. If you wish to follow this kind gesture then it would be a most appropriate way of remembering a lovely man who shared with all of us the love a free flight.

When the mind reaches a state of 'emotional overload' it wants to express itself, but loses the ability to in any form. I've been at that point for a few weeks now, I would like to say something, but for once the words are gone. The thoughts are there for his brave family and their lovely gesture towards the Air Ambulance.
See you out there!!!!!

Surf crazed and dazed

Apologies if I seem ignorant but I only became interested in Paragliding shortly after Gary's Accident so never met him. Is he the one in the photo with the blue and yellow wing and on the front page of our website.

My thoughts are with his family.
If Acro was easy they'd call it Cross Country
